Committee Charter

The University of Utah campus Wireless Committee was formed when University network administrators and department supervisors found a common need to expand their networks to the wireless arena, as an ITC subcommittee. The Wireless Committee is an advisory group which reports and makes recommendations to ITAC. The current chair is Jon Ross, School of Business. The Committee meets regularly; times and locations are to be determined. Meetings are open. To join the discussions, please subscribe to the wireless mailing list.

The Office of Information Technology and the U administration want to make encrypted, authenticated wireless access ubiquitous on the main U of U campus within two years (approximately Fall Semester 2008). The Wireless Committee is charged with planning the technical details to make this possible.

The Wireless Committee includes several sub-groups:

Roaming - Bryan Morris, Lead
uconnect/hotspot Networks - Dave Packham, Lead
Campus Wireless Standards - Dave Packham, Lead

Meeting Schedule

The next Wireless Committee meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at the Eccles Broadcast Center.
