New OIT Website
The Office of Information Technology, with Media Solutions, has redesigned its website. The site now contains Information Technology leadership information (campus IT committees and groups, strategic plans, policies and policy links, and best practices), and IT services information (email, web, phone & voice, networking, cable tv, network/Internet connections, desktop support, Campus Help Desk). Information previously accessed on the NetCom website has now been incorporated into the OIT site. Additionally, there are guides to help campus members find IT resources based on their role: student, staff, faculty, or IT professional.
OIT & Media Solutions met with several campus users in February to pre-test of the site. They learned that most campus members are not aware of many of the services OIT provides. The newly redesigned site is intendeds to provide "one-stop shopping" for most campus IT services. Your feedback on the website is always welcomed. Send email to |
Data Storage Services through HSC-ITS
| The July 2004 issue of the IT News reported on Storage Area Network (SAN) technologies and the benefits they offer to organizations like the University of Utah. The U's Health Sciences ITS department has purchased hardware that now allows all U departments access to a highly reliable SAN that lowers costs by resource sharing and backing up critical resources with task-appropriate equipment. This increases the level of service that can be provided to students, faculty, and staff.
Storage Services: Price includes hardware, software, data center space, personnel, and switches
Backup Services: $0.36/gigabyte/month (includes hardware, software, personnel, media and offsite storage of media) For a full presentation about the Health Sciences ITS Storage Area Network and related services, click here. |
