Housing and Residential Education Voice/Data -
Overview
The Office of Information Technology provides centralized voice
and data services to Housing and Residential Education (HRE). These
services encompass Gateway Heights, Chapel Glen, Sage Point, Shoreline Ridge, Benchmark Plaza, and Officers Circle.
New - Wireless Service
Wireless internet/network access will be available in all HRE areas by the end of July, 2008, with many buildings completed before June. View the complete timeline.
Basic Telephone Service
The monthly amount charged in resident's rental fee for basic telephone service will include:
- Basic dial tone
- 5-digit campus calls
- Local calls
- Toll free calls
- Credit card or phone card call access
- Call transfer
- Call waiting
- Call forwarding
- Three-way calling
- Speed calling

Additional Information
- There is one phone number and one data drop per apartment. Costs for these services are included as part of the standard costs charged by HRE.
- Users provide their own telephone equipment, Ethernet cables and network cards.
- Voice mail is not provided. Your telephone set must be equipped with a built in answering machine or you will need a separate answering machine.
- Each apartment will have University IP address space via their high speed data connection and will be an extension of the campus network.
- Each apartment is provided with a data modem.
- Additional telephone lines can be arranged for directly through Qwest, our local telephone company. Qwest will bill directly for this service.
