Virtual Private Network (VPN) Connection Options
VPN Connections
U of U students, staff and faculty can access the Campus Network or campus websites via a Virtual Private Network connection known as a VPN. A Virtual Private Network (VPN) provides a secure, encrypted connection to a network or website through the Internet from a personal computer. An IP address from the University's IP space is assigned to the connection. You need to be connected to the Internet to use the VPN.
UGuest wireless users who wish to have a full bandwidth connection can use either the campus web VPN or the heavy client. To do this, the user needs to open a browser so the UGuest login screen is up, login to their vpn client and then browse or navigate to the resources they need.
VPN Options
SSL VPN (requires temporary "mini" client software)
Individual VPN (requires"heavy" client software)
