The University of Utah has widespread campus wireless access, with plans for coverage campus-wide, including many outdoor common areas, by Fall 2008.
The uconnect.utah.edu campus wireless network is an authenticated, encrypted network that uses 802.1x/WPA as a campus-wide wireless access standard. Users must enter their uNID and password during configuration to use this network. The uconnect network is part of the campus network and users must follow all campus Acceptable Use Policies.

Note: The encryption standard for the uconnect network is changing on May 7th, 2008, at 5 pm. We are moving from WPA2 to WPA network security/authentication to allow more devices to use the network. Users may need to reconfigure their mobile devices to use the network with the instructions below. |
As of August 2007, "Protected Extensible Authentication Protocol" (PEAP) authentication is available for many devices to connect to uconnect via their built-in wireless clients (no software required). This is the preferred method of connected to uconnect. Choose your operating system/device:

The other authentication method (EAP-TTLS) requires the installation of free client software on some platforms. We have instructions and downloads for most users. This is not the preferred way of connecting to uconnect.
