Mac OS X - uconnect Troubleshooting
Configuring uconnect after secure.utah.edu
If you have configured your client for other wireless networks (like secure.utah.edu) that use a different encryption protocol, you will need to click on the Airport icon in the OS X menu bar's top right hand corner.
- Select "Other . . ."
- Next, choose uconnect.utah.edu as the Network Name and the Wireless Security field entry should change to WPA Enterprise or WPA2 Enterprise, depending on your particular Access Point.
- You will see a "Verify Certificate" window. Click "Show Cert". Once you've verified that it is the correct certificate, click "Continue." You should be connected.
Default setting for authenticating
If you are having difficulty authenticating after following the steps above, you may need to change your default network setting to "Automatic."
- From the desktop, click on the Apple menu.

- Choose 'System Preferences...'
- You should see a window that looks similar to this:
- Click on the 'Network' icon. If you are not logged in as a system administrator, click on the lock at the bottom left hand corner of the window, and login.
- We recommend creating a new location. To do this, click on the "Location: "
drop-down menu and select "New Location..." and give it a name you'll recognize. - Select "Airport" from the Network panel's "Show: " drop-down menu as the interface to configure.
- Under the Airport Tab, choose "Automatic" from the drop down list for the "By default, join:" item. Do not set this item to join a specific network by default - even if it is uconnect - because authentication may fail. Your window should look similar to this:

- Click "Apply Now" to save these settings.
