Campus UMail System - System Access
Preferred UMail System Software
The following email programs allow full access to all new campus UMail system features.
Windows
- Outlook 2003 with Windows XP with Service Pack 1 and Hotfix Q331320 or higher (available as a free download for U students, staff and faculty from www.software.utah.edu)
Mac
- Entourage 2004 (available as a free download for U students, staff and faculty from www.software.utah.edu)
Linux
- Evolution with the connector
Web
- Outlook Web Access via Internet Explorer (logon at www.umail.utah.edu)
Alternate Email Software
The UMail system supports a large number of different clients for Windows, Macintosh, Linux, Mobile Clients and various web browsers. The following list of software is not officially supported, but will provided minimal email functionality.

Current Webmail Users
Links will be provided on http://My.Utah.edu for both the old Webmail system and/or the new UMail system. Links to both will also be available from http://webmail.utah.edu. All new system features will be available to users using a Microsoft IE browser.
Known Issue: Outlook Web Access will mark a message as "Replied" or "Forwarded" if you just click to reply, regardless if you actually send the reply or forward the message.
Mobile access information
PDA/SmartPhone access to the UMail system is available through:
- Server Synchronization using Microsoft Active Sync (Windows Mobile/Pocketpc) or Versa Mail (Palm device). PDA/SmartPhone Sync instructions: http://www.it.utah.edu/services/helpDesk/emailWebhelp/umailpda.html
*Provides live up to date data synchronization with your UMail mailbox. - Client based Outlook PDA synchronization (using the third party software and data cable provided by your PDA/SmartPhone manufacturer). This method will only synchronize while the device is connected to your PC.
