This document describes how to connect your Macintosh computer with Mac OS X or higher to the campus network.

Configuring Mac OS X for a Dialup Connection

Click on the in the Finder menu bar and choose “System Preferences.”

Click on Network.

Network Window

Choose the Modem from the Show drop down menu. Then choose Using PPP under the Configure drop down menu.

Select the PPP tab.

In the Service Provider field type UofU Modem Pool.

In the Account Name field type in your UNID

In the Password field type your UNID password.

In the Telephone Number type in the 60 minute/week phone number: 924 0783.

In the Alternate Number field type in the 15 min/week phone number: 924 0639.

Push the Apply Now button.

Remote Access Information

  • Help Desk: 581-4000 option 1
  • 90 minute modems: 924-0783
  • 15 minute modems: 924-0639
  • Dialup protocol: PPP
    Obtain Address: From PPP server
  • Primary DNS: 155.101.201.10
  • Secondary DNS: 155.101.115.10

Email Server Information

  • Incoming Email (POP server): pop.utah.edu
  • Incoming Email (IMAP server): imap.utah.edu
  • SMTP (outgoing Email): smtp.utah.edu

Other Servers

  • Student web pages: home.utah.edu

To access restricted Web servers and services (such as the Library databases) from an Internet Service Provider (ISP), configure your web browser with the following information:    Proxy server: proxy.utah.edu
