Troubleshooting
The Internet is based on local networks linked together to form a world wide network. In order to access it from your home computer, you must first establish a link to a local network.
The Windows 98 operating system provides a way to establish a PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) connection which provides a network link between your computer at home and the computer at school. Once you have established this link you can then run your internet software.

There are six sections in this dialog box. We'll deal with them in order.

Troubleshooting
Verify that you've actually installed the TCP/IP Protocol . Open the Network control panel and look in the Network Components list box for the item TCP/IP. If TCP?IP is not in the list, you need to install it. See Step 2.
If you get connected but none of the programs work, then you may be having a conflict with the other network components/protocols that may be installed. If you are not connected to any other network (you aren't if you're at home), go into the Control Panels , into the Network icon, select the Configuration tab, there you may find that there are more than the required networking components installed. Highlight and Remove each component except for the TCP/IP Protocol and the Dialup Adapter .
If the second disk does not install properly, look at the filename
on the disk. To look at the filename, open My Computer, open A
drive (floppy A:) The filename on the 3 disks should be: Disk 1:
95kit.exe, Disk 2: 95kit.wo2 and Disk 3: 95kit.wo3. If the filename
on disk 2 is 95kit.exe, rename the file to 95kit.wo2. If the filename
of disk 3 is 95kit.exe, rename the file to 95kit.wo3. If the filenames
are anything else, you will need to download the Internet Client
Kit again, or contact the Help Desk.
