The Solaris VPN client is distributed as a service to our customers who use Solaris and would like to use the VPN service. However, we do not offer support for the Solaris client at this time. For installation instructions, read Chapter 2 of the User Guide.

Solaris VPN Client Distribution Files

vpnclient-solaris-4.6.02.0030 - latest vpn client

vpnclient-solaris-4.0.Z - vpn client (2.64 MB)

uofu.pcf - the user/group I.D. profile (1KB)

vc4-lin-sol.pdf - User Guide (1 MB). Chapter 2 has installation instructions, Chapter 4 explains how to use the client.

To download a distribution file, click on the file name. To download the file uofu.pcf , use the "Download link to disk" (Internet Explorer) or "Save this link as" (Netscape) or equivalent option of your browser.

Solaris System Requirements

The VPN Client for Solaris runs on any UltraSPARC computer running a 32-bit or 64-bit Solaris kernel OS Version 2.6 or later.

Notes on Running the Client

Before running the VPN client, you must first establish a connection to the Internet through your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

To invoke the VPN client, open the Terminal application and on the command line type:

vpnclient connect uofu

Note: When you specify the profile, do NOT include .pcf as part of the profile name.

Support

We do not offer support for installing or using the Solaris VPN client at this time. However, if you are having problems accessing the University network or using your campus Network ID (NID), call the Campus Help Desk at 581-4000 or send Email to helpdesk@utah.edu.
