UMail is now the Campus Email System -
May 10, 2006

Current Student iPlanet/Webmail users:

If you are current student and were using the campus Webmail / iPlanet system to access your '@utah.edu' email account prior to May 10th, 2006, your email is now being received in your UMail account. You can access your UMail account at https://www.umail.utah.edu.

You may access your past email messages in the old campus system by going to http://webmailold.utah.edu until September 30th, 2006. You will not be able to receive messages in that system any longer. If you choose to, you can move or migrate those old messages to your new UMail account.

Migrate Email to your UMail Account

Choose from one of the options below to deal with messages in your old Webmail/iPlanet account.

Option 1. Do nothing - leave all those messages behind and say "Good Riddance!"

Option 2. Move only the messages/folders that have important, school-related information in them.

Set up an IMAP connection in your Outlook 2003 email program OR
Set up an IMAP connection in your Entourage 2004 email program OR
Forward messages from iPlanet/Webmail:
You will be able to transfer existing emails from the old system to the new UMail system by forwarding each individual email message to unid@umail.utah.edu. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT YOU FORWARD IT TO THIS SPECIAL ADDRESS. Example: u0123456@umail.utah.edu

You will be able to forward old email to the new email until September 30, 2006.
OR
Move messages using other IMAP clients

Option 3. After logging into the uNID Account Tools, click on the Migrate messages to UMail button that will have appeared.

Clicking this button will move all email messages and folders from your webmail/iplanet system account to your UMail system account. Email migrations from the Webmail/iPlanet email system are being performed in daily batches.
After clicking the button, it may take up to 30 minutes for all of your messages to appear in UMail.

Please do not wait until the last minute to save any old email that is important to you!
You will be able to forward or migrate old email to your UMail account until September 30,
2006, at which time it will be retired and all emails within it will be permanently lost.

Webmail Address Books

The Migration tool in the uNID Account Tools will only migrate email from iPlanet/Webmail to UMail. It will not migrate your Webmail address book. To import your Webmail address book to the UMail system, follow the export/import instructions found on the UMail How To web pages.
