Campus Email Project: How To
Running GroupWise and Outlook
Running Outlook and GroupWise on the same PC is possible. The key is to make sure the Windows Messaging (WMS) components are configured properly every time either program is run. While it isn't necessary, it helps to have GroupWise installed on the system first, followed by Outlook.
Configuring Windows Messaging (WMS)
Make sure each program (client) has WMS configured properly by doing the following:
- Click > Start > Control Panel > Mail
- Click > Show Profiles...

Each program (client) needs a profile. If you are going to be using both clients, it seems to work best if you set Novell (GroupWise) as the default and set it to prompt you for a profile.
- Select the Novell profile
- Select Always use this profile
- Then select Apply
- Now select Prompt for a profile to be used and
- Click Apply or OK to save the settings.

If you have both clients installed and only have one profile you will need to add one. To add the Novell GroupWise settings:
- Click Add... and enter the profile name, and
- Click OK

- Then, make sure Add a new e-mail account is selected and click Next >

- Now, make sure Additional Server Types is selected and click Next >
- Select Novell GroupWise Transport Provider and click Next >

If you have Novell GroupWise Profile, you will need to add an Exchange profile. Follow the previous steps until the “Server Type” page and
- Select Microsoft Exchange Server
- Then click Next >
