Campus UMail System - How To
iPhone Settings for UMail (OS 2.2 OR GREATER)
- Open the Settings and select Mail, Contacts, Calendar.
- Tap Add Account
- Tap Microsoft Exchange.
- On the configuration screen, enter the following:
- Email: your.address@utah.edu
- Username: your uNID@umail.utah.edu
- Password: your uNID password
- Description: UMail (or whatever you want)
- Tap Next. The iPhone verifies the information.
- After verifying the data, the iPhone comes back to another account information screen. Most of the information will be carried forward from the previous screen. In the Server box, enter: www.umail.utah.edu.
- Tap Next.
- The final screen sets the synchronization options for mail, contacts and calendar. Select the options you want and tap Done.
Configure how data is pushed to the iPhone
- In Settings, tap Fetch New Data.
- To turn the Push feature on or off, tap the On/Off switch.
- Set how often the data is pushed/retrieved by the iPhone when push is off or for applications which don’t support push in the Fetch section.
- Use Advanced settings to control the Fetch/Push for each of the email accounts you have set up.
Note: turning on Push can drain the battery quickly. If increased battery life is important to you, you may want to set your email to sync manually. It does take a little longer.
