Palm Treo 650 activeSync with the UMail exchange system
To configure Exchange Server ActiveSync synchronization between your handheld Palm Treo 650 (PDA) and your umail.utah.edu account:
- Go to the Home screen on your handheld device.
- Open VersaMail.
- Press the Menu Button on the Treo
- Select Account Setup
- Select New
- Type in an account name (i.e., UMail, Exchange, Email).
- Under the Mail Service drop down box it is IMPORTANT to make sure Exchange Active Sync is selected. See the screen shot below.
- Choose Next
- User name: uNID@umail.utah.edu
- Password: your uNID password
** Note: you must assign a password before you’re able to proceed. - Choose Next
- Email Address: Your email address, replace <domain name> with your domain name of utah.edu, med.utah.edu, hsc.utah.edu etc.
- Mail Server: This should be 'www.umail.utah.edu'.
- Select Next
- Select Advanced
- Check the box that has Use Secure Connection (SSL).
- Select Next
- Select Done (Nothing to be used for proxy server).
- Select the Sync button and you’re finished.
Note: If you experience difficulty configuring your PDA device with the instructions given, contact your local lan manager for help.
