Campus UMail System - How To
Exchange Server and Desktop Activesync Standard Partnership
A Standard Partnership is used when you wish to synchronize more than just your Inbox, Contacts and Calendar with your PDA/Smartphone device. For example, you may want to also synchronize your Favorites, Notes, Tasks and so on. To do this, you will need to install Outlook 2003 on your PC and configure Desktop Activesync. You can also configure Exchange Server Activesync at the same time, if you wish.
After installing Outlook 2003 , follow the instructions below to configure Desktop (and Server) Activesync.
Choose Standard Partnership in your Desktop ActiveSync application and click Next.

In the Specify how to synchronize data screen, choose Synchronize with Microsoft Exchange Server and/or this desktop computer and click Next.

- Then enter the server's name in the Server Name box: www.umail.utah.edu
- Select the This server uses an SSL connection check-box.
- Enter your uNID, password and domain name (umail.utah.edu), and select the Save Password check-box.
- Click Next.
Next, you'll be able to choose what to synchronize with the UMail server, and if you click on Settings, you'll have a few settings you can play with.

Finally, you can choose what other things you'd like to synchronize with your local PC, if it has Outlook 2003 installed. Click on Settings to view your options.

When you're done, click Finish.

After finishing with the partnership setup you'll see a Connected window where you'll be able to perform various tasks such as browsing files and folders on your PPC, installing and removing applications, changing your synchronization settings, and more.
Note: You can always delete the partnership.
