Configuring Outlook 2007 for the UMail System
Microsoft Outlook is the recommended email program for UMail, the new campus email system, for those using a Windows computer.
Configuring Outlook 2007
Click Start > Control Panel > Mail.
Choose Show Profiles.
Click Add.
Enter 'UMail' in the Profile Name and click OK.
Choose Manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next.

Select Microsoft Exchange and click Next.

You will see the Microsoft Exchange Settings window.
Enter ‘public.xds.umail.utah.edu’ as the Microsoft Exchange Server and leave Use Cache Exchange Mode checked.
Enter your uNID as the User Name. Click More Settings button.

Click OK on the warning message.

Cancel the window that appears next.

Click on the Connection tab.

Check Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP.
Click the Exchange Proxy Settings button.

Enter the URL ‘www.umail.utah.edu.'
Check Mutually authenticate the session when connecting with SSL and enter ‘msstd:www.umail.utah.edu.’
The Proxy authentication setting should be 'Basic Authentication.'

Click OK, then OK.
Click Check Name and enter ‘uNID@umail.utah.edu’ for your User Name, then enter your password and click OK.

Your uNID should be replaced by your full name and both it and the server name should now be underlined. The server name value should no longer be ‘public.xds.umail.utah.edu.’
Click Next and then Finish.
