You can dial 911 or 9-911.
HOW DO I PLACE A CALL TO ANOTHER CAMPUS PHONE?
Most phone numbers at the Univeristy of Utah have a prefix of 581, 585, or 587. When calling on-campus numbers, you may omit the '58' portion of the number and dial the last 5 digits. For example, 581-7200 may be dialed as 1-7200 from any campus phone.

Dial 9 + the 7-digit local number.
HOW DO I REACH THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH HOSPITAL OPERATOR?
If you are calling from a U of U hospital facility, dial 0, or you may dial 1-2121.
HOW DO I REACH THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH CAMPUS OPERATOR?
If you are calling from a U of U hospital facility, dial 1-7200. If you are calling from on campus, dial 0.
how do i call directory assistance?
For directory assistance, dial 9-1-411. Local directory assistance is a toll call.
HOW DO I MAKE A LONG DISTANCE CALL?
If allowed, dial 9+1+ area code and number.
HOW DO I MAKE A LONG DISTANCE CALL USING MY AUTH CODE?
To activate Account Code from idle position:
- Press the "Account Code" key or dial the feature code #1990,
- dial the 10 digit account number followed by pressing the outside line key,
- then dial 9 + area code and number.
To activate during a call:
- Press the "Xfer/Cnf" key,
- press the "Account Code" key or dial the feature code #1990,
- dial the 10 digit account number followed by pressing the outside line key,
- then dial 9 + area code and number.
