Call Forwarding
Call Transfer
Three-Way Calling
Speed Calling
Call Waiting
Operator-Assisted Calls

What about long distance, Caller ID, and other enhanced voice features?

Call Forwarding

To forward calls to any telephone number:

  • Press the Line key (or lift the receiver)
  • Dial 806. Listen for the stutter tone.
  • For on-campus phone number, dial the 5 digit extension
  • For off-campus phone number, dial 9 plus the phone number
  • Hang up

To turn off call forwarding:

  1. Press the Line key (or lift the receiver)
  2. Dial 807
  3. Hang up

Call Transfer

You can transfer calls without the assistance of a campus operator.

  • Tell the caller you are transferring the call.
  • Depress switchhook* momentarily.
  • Listen for stutter dial tone.
  • Dial the 5-digit extension number.
  • When you hear the number ring, hang up.
If the extension is busy or no one answers, depress the switchhook twice to restorethe original connection and inform the caller. If operator assistance is needed to transfer the call, dial 0 instead of an extension number after obtaining the stutter dial tone.

Do not delay dialing once you depress the switchhook* or your party will return within 18 to 20 seconds.

* On electronic keysets, press the "Flash" or "Transfer" key.

Three-Way Calling

You may hold an existing call, originate a call to another extension for consultation, and then return to the original call. This is known as a consultation hold. You may also add a third party to an established call. This is three-way calling. For either of these options:

  • Depress switchhook* momentarily.
  • Listen for stutter dial tone.
  • Dial third party.

When the third party answers, you may talk privately. You then have a choice to drop the 3rd party by depressing the switchook* twice, or after the third party hangs up, depress the switchhook* once to restore the original connection.

If the party to be added is busy or doesn't answer, restore the original connection by depressing the switchhook* twice.

If any of the three parties hangs up, a new third party may be added by repeating the above procedure. Parties can remove themselves from the call by hanging up.

Do not use this feature to hold one call while answering another. Once the switchhook* is depressed, a delay in dialing (18 to 20 seconds) will reconnect the original caller.

* On electronic key sets, press the "Flash" or "Transfer" key.

Speed Calling

You can dial frequently called telephone numbers quickly and easily using two-digit codes. You can store telephone numbers up to 24 digits long.

To Program a Speed Call number:

  • Dial the "Spd Call" code: 875
  • Press 1 for list one
  • Dial the double-digit code (01-30) by which the number will be identified.
  • Dial the 5 digit campus number, or 9+ the 7-digit off-camus local number that you want to store
  • Press the "#" key. Listen for the 2-beep confirmation tone.
  • Replace the handset in the cradle when you have finished adding all the speed calling numbers you wish to store.

To use Speed Calling:

  • Lift handset. Listen for dial tone.
  • Dial *11 plus the double-digit code you assigned to the number you wish to call.

You can change one or more numbers in the speed-calling list by simply programming a new number over an existing one.

Call Waiting

Call Waiting lets you know when you have a second incoming call by sending a single tone to your phone set in regular intervals. You can place the established call on hold, alternate between the two callers, or abandon one of the calls.

To activate:

  • You are on an established call and hear a call waiting tone.
  • Depress the switch hook momentarily. Wait for dial tone and dial 808.
  • You can return to the first call by momentarily pressing the switch hook once. Wait for a dial tone and dial 808. This places the second party on hold.

These steps can be repeated as often as you wish as long as the held party does not hang up.

If you want to make a call without being interrupted by the call waiting tone, you can disable the feature temporarily.

To disable call waiting:

  • Lift the hand set. Listen for dial tone.
  • Dial 870. Wait for dial tone.
  • Dial the number you wish to call.

The call waiting feature will be active again after you terminate your call.
