OIT mobile office Cellular pda program

OIT Mobile Office allows on-the-go users mobile access to real-time email and personal information such as calendaring, contacts and tasks that can be managed through a PDA device. Users can take advantage of "over-the-air" notification and security technology that synchronizes data from their business email program with their combination Cell Phone/PDA, powered by NotifyLink. Users no longer have to boot-up, dial-up or log on every time they want to access their email and calendar.

 

In addition to the service OIT provides, users will need to sign up for a wireless voice and data plan. See additional information below.

While we strive to support as many devices as possible from as many cell phone carriers as possible, there are situations where a particular device (even a recommended device) from a particular vendor may not work in the environment in which you work or for the particular application you need. Before ordering a wireless PDA that you intend to use with a data service, please talk with a Service Coordinator (1-4000, option 2) about your particular application.

Pricing & Plans

OIT Mobile Office

There is a one-time set-up fee of $75, plus a recurring monthly fee of $25 for Mobile Office connectivity. Mobile Office service is available for the campus Umail or Groupwise users.

Cell Phone/PDA Plans

Cell Phones and PDAs with data plans through any U of U approved cellular vendors can be Mobile Office-enabled. Your device and plan must be purchased before you order your Mobile Office service through OIT.

Note: Be sure you identify yourself as a University of Utah employee at the time you purchase your device, voice and data plans for special University pricing.

Sign up for oit Mobile Office

To sign up for Mobile Office and the accompanying plan that's right for you, fill out a Mobile Office Service Order with the following information:

  • the user's first and last name
  • the user's employee ID or uNID
  • the user's home department name
  • the user's campus title
  • the user's home department location
  • the user's desk phone number
  • the user's current mobile number (if they have one)
  • the user's current email address
  • the user's current email client program (Outlook, GroupWise, Eudora, etc.)
  • the user's preferred service plan and device

After you have purchased your mobile device and your data plan is activated, submit a Mobile Office Service Order. You will be contacted to arrange for dropping off your device, configuration, and picking your device back up.
