Researchers at the University of Utah, along with Rice University in Houston, have been selected by the PAWR Project Office to create and operate a “living laboratory” for mobile and wireless technologies at the University of Utah and in Salt Lake City, according to the U’s press release on April 9, 2018.

UIT’s online newsletter Node 4 will soon start publishing on a special summer schedule, every other month, rather than its current monthly schedule. The next two editions will be released in June and August.

While pursuing a bachelor’s degree in biology from Idaho State University, Gretchen Lohse enrolled in a “Photo Applications of Ecology” course. “That was it for me,” said Lohse, lead camera operator on the Video Services Team in UIT Teaching & Learning Technologies. “I absolutely fell in love with photography.”

On March 30, 2018, UIT will introduce a new cloud service offering called UCloud, a hybrid cloud platform that seamlessly integrates university-owned on-site cloud services with public cloud services (e.g., Amazon Web Services and Azure).

IT staff from the University of Utah and Brigham Young University met on March 6 at 102 Tower for a day-long Application Programming Interface (API) symposium. The inaugural event centered around building better software for higher education.

Nick Loomans, Human Resource analyst for UIT employees, was racing competitively by age 6, eventually achieving national USSA point ranking, and international point ranking in the Fédération Internationale de Ski (FIS).
